I wanted to take a moment to send you this brief note to let you know how much I appreciate your service here at First Christian Church.
The work you perform as Secretary is most often one that is "behind the scenes", however, I want to assure you that not only do I see the work, most importantly the Lord sees your hours of labor to make First Christian Church a place that the Name of Christ is honored.
You have handled your duties with dignity and respect for others, and even in times of difficulty you have continued to serve with honor.
In thinking about the many phone calls that you take, I thought you might appreciate the following "smile"...
A man called at the church and asked if he could speak to the Head Hog at the Trough. The secretary said, "Who?"
The man replied, "I want to speak to the Head Hog at the Trough!"
Sure now that she had heard correctly, the secretary said, "Sir, if you mean our pastor, you will have to treat him with more respect--and ask for 'The Reverend' or 'The Pastor.' But certainly you cannot refer to him as the Head Hog at the Trough!"
At this, the man came back, "Oh, I see. Well, I have ten thousand dollars I was thinking about donating to the Building Fund."
Secretary: "Hold the line--I think the Big Pig just walked in the door."
Seriously, thank you for using your gifts and talents to make First Christian Church a better place!
